Body Dynamics Dance Medicine 2017 Teacher Workshop

Saturday, August 12, 2017 – Sunday, August 13, 2017

In partnership with the Virginia Dance Coalition, this two-day workshop will provide dance teachers/educators with tools to observe dancer’s movements for compensatory strategies due to either stiffness, tightness, or difficulty with controlling movement. At the conclusion of the workshop, the participant will be able to recognize movement dysfunctions and intervene with specific exercises to help improve the movement of the spine, hip, and ankle/foot for the individual dancer.  BDI will provide a certificate of completion to each participant, and, upon request, documentation to support application for CEU credits. Individual attendees are responsible for obtaining CEU’s from relevant accrediting bodies (e.g., NDEO).

The lectures and movement sessions will be provided by Physical Therapists and Movement Specialists/Trainers of the Body Dynamics’ Performing Arts Medicine Team. Members of this team direct and manage the Health and Wellness Program for The Washington Ballet and Washington School of Ballet and all share a passion for treating and educating the dance community.
